※ Guidelines on Content Use Request

Korea.net provides a variety of information on Korea, such as pictures showing Korea's past and present, video materials and the latest news related with Korea. If you want to use content from Korea.net for academic or other purposes, you are advised to request permission in the following way.

1) On the page containing the content you want to use, click the "Scrap" button.

2) A pop-up window to confirm the save will appear and require you to log in. After logging in, choose "Copy List" and press the add button.

3) If you want to request additional content, repeat No. 2.

4) After saving all, go to the "copy list" on "My Info" page.

5) "Copy List" consists of detailed menus of "general contents," "slide" and "wall paper." In each of the detailed menus, choose the information you want to use and click the "application" button on the upper/lower end.

6) On the page for content use request, there are boxes to fill in the title, purpose of use, and e-mail address of the applicant. In the box for content title, please write down the subject of the content briefly and in the box for purpose of use, you can fill out where or how you will use the information. Whether or not the request is approved will depend largely on the purpose of use. So, you need to be specific.


7) After completing the request procedure, you can view the results of our review on the "Result of Application" of "My Info" page.

8) Generally, the results will be available two days after the request.

9) Once the content use permission is granted, the Korean Culture and Information Service (KOIS) will provide additional service such as better-quality pictures, if necessary.

1) Basic Principle

Contents of the Korea.net homepage are in principle provided for free. However, KOIS will impose a copyright fee on the use of content for commercial purposes.
· Government institutions, local autonomous entities, and public institutions
· Individuals (Korean nationals/foreigners) for non-commercial purposes academic or
  promotional purposes
· Cases of commercial purpose (Depending on the nature of use, the contents may be offered free.)
 - The "law on open information for public institutions" will apply in deciding the amount of the fee.

· In cases involving the right of a third party (the right of image, copyright, neighboring
  copyright and patent right, etc), paid service may be offered after consultations with
  right holder.

 
4) Reminder
· Even if the use of content is authorized, the applicant must not arbitrarily alter content
  without permission of KOIS. Use of content for purposes other than the original purpose
  is prohibited.

· When using content, please identify KOIS as the source of the content. ("These materials have been provided by the Korea Overseas Information Service.")

· Since the content involving the right of a third party (the right of image, copyright, neighboring copyright and patent right, etc) requires prior permission from the party, a decision that does not agree with our basic principles could result.
